[Example] Resin flow analysis software '3D TIMON'

We introduce the CAE software "3D TIMON," which uses 3D models to calculate the flow of molten resin inside molds and predict various molding defects.

By using 3D TIMON for resin flow analysis, it is possible to predict molding defects at the design stage, thereby reducing the number of mold modifications and prototypes, which leads to a shortened development period and cost reduction. The analysis procedure is as follows: 【Step 1】 Mesh the target shape for analysis. (By meshing, the target shape can be represented as a "collection of small simple shapes," allowing for computation on a computer.) 【Step 2】 Set the necessary conditions such as "filling time," "injection pressure," "holding pressure," "holding time," "cooling time," "resin temperature," "mold temperature," and "resin data." 【Step 3】 Start automatic calculations by the computer.

Plastic molding flow analysis software [Moldex3D]

We provide technology that reduces trial and error through complete 3D simulation visualization technology!

Moldex3D, a complete 3D resin flow analysis software, simulates the behavior inside molds during the plastic molding process on a computer, aiming to proactively identify and prevent various potential issues that may arise during the process. 【Features】 ■ Large-scale and high-speed analysis using the finite volume method for high-precision 3D analysis In traditional finite element methods (FEM), computation time increases geometrically with the number of elements, whereas in the finite volume method (FVM), it increases linearly, making it overwhelmingly advantageous as the number of elements increases. ■ High-precision 3D analysis By accurately solving the Navier-Stokes equations based on non-Newtonian fluids and considering the effects of inertia and gravity, it can handle complex phenomena such as runner balance and jetting. Unsteady cooling analysis and vent analysis are also supported as standard features. ■ High-performance computing capabilities By efficiently utilizing multi-core, multi-CPU, and multi-PC clusters, it achieves high computation speeds. It supports: - Flow analysis - Pressure holding analysis - Cooling analysis - Stress analysis - Warpage analysis - Structural analysis integration For detailed features, please refer to the catalog.

I want to understand the movement of the resin inside the mold.

Task: "I want to understand the movement of resin inside the mold."

Injection molding is performed within a closed mold throughout the entire process from resin filling to cooling. As a result, it is said to be very difficult to identify the factors causing defects in the molded products. In some cases, the know-how of experienced technicians on-site can be utilized to improve defects, but because this know-how is a black box, sharing information becomes challenging. For example, when significant warping occurs in a product, various potential causes can be cited, such as whether it is due to the fibers of the reinforcing material or temperature differences. However, determining the cause and making improvements based solely on the molded product is considered difficult without incurring substantial human and time costs. Therefore, visualizing the interior of the mold has become necessary for improving productivity, reducing costs, and developing high-value-added products.

[Inventor Utilization Case] Sato Parts Co., Ltd. Kanto Factory

The initial stage of design is very easy! A case that dramatically improved design efficiency and design quality.

We would like to introduce a case where Sato Parts Co., Ltd., an electrical components manufacturer, implemented our product 'Autodesk Moldflow Adviser.' The company outsources mold manufacturing, and traditionally, they would proceed by making a mold first and then iteratively refining it through four or five trials. However, after introducing our product, they began verifying mold designs with resin flow analysis before placing orders, providing the results along with 3D models and drawings to the mold manufacturing factory. As a result, the number of retries significantly decreased, and the quality of the finished products greatly improved. [Case Overview] <Challenges> - Questions such as "Why does shrinkage occur here?" remained unresolved, and they could only find out by actually molding. <Result> - The number of retries significantly decreased, and the quality of the finished products greatly improved. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
